Day 1 – Design-by-Formulas of Pressure Equipment
1. Introduction to the structural analysis of pressure systems
2. Calculation of the minimum thickness of cylindrical, conical shells, curved and flat ends
3. Design by formula code (ASME VIII-1 / EN 13445)
4. Materials and allowable values
5. Sizing of shells and curved and flat ends for internal/external pressure
6. Resistance check of openings in shells and ends
7. Welded joints: efficiency and control
8. Flange check (Taylor-Forge method)
9. Practical cases
Day 2 – Design-by-Analysis of Pressure Equipment
1. Design-by-Analysis and failure mode calculation philosophy:

- 2. Progressive accumulation of plastic deformation (elastic ratcheting)
- 3. Triaxiality of stress
- 4. Buckling
2. Definition of allowable limits
3. Linear elastic method: linearization and classification of stresses (ASME VIII-1 / EN 13445)
4. Nonlinear methods in the plastic range (ASME VIII-1 / EN 13445)
5. Oligocyclic fatigue (ASME VIII-1 / EN 13445)
6. Practical cases
7. Definizione delle azioni esterne su attrezzature a pressione: vento, neve, sisma, carichi dinamici (Eurocodice e NTC2018)
8. Verifica delle strutture di supporto: gonne, gambe e selle
9. Verifica degli ancoraggi secondo Eurocodice

Day 4 – Structural Integrity and Fitness-For-Service
1. Introduction to the Fitness-For-Service approach and API 579-1 code: MAWP, RSF, residual life
2. Evaluation levels
3. Damage mechanisms and API RP 571: API 579-1 part structure
4. Generalized/localized metal loss (Part 4/5)
5. Cracks (Part 9) and basics of fracture mechanics: definition of the FAD diagram
6. Advanced analyses: creep and damage by inelastic FEA
